Just southeast of Kansas City, Lee’s Summit has a rich
history of its own. Founded in 1865 as Strother, we were later renamed to honor
the then-postmaster. Since the beginning, Lee’s Summit has been a wonderful
place to call home. No matter what the season you can always find something to
do here, or take a short drive to downtown KCMO for even more options. This
summer get out and explore the area!
Festivals
Lee’s Summit bookends each summer with two must-see
family-friendly festivals. For more than 30 years summer begins with Lee’s
Summit Downtown Days in early June. With new vendors and entertainment every
year, Downtown Days is the perfect tradition to welcome summer. Check out their website and follow
them on Facebook and Instagram to learn more!
End the summer celebrating with your Lee’s Summit friends
and family at Oktoberfest. Support local business by transporting yourself to
Munich by way of downtown Lee’s Summit. Bring the family to enjoy Kids Street,
arts and crafts, and vendors with all the bratwurst, spaetzle, and pretzels you
can eat. Of course there’s a Biergarten for the 21+ crowd, and a Rootbiergarten
if that’s more your style. Learn more about who and what will be there this
year, and see a rolling countdown to the festivities on their website.
Parks & Recreation
If you’ve lived in the Kansas City area for long you know
