At The Residences at New Longview, we know that Lee’s Summit is one of the best places to live. There’s plenty to do no matter what the season, as you can see from our fall, winter, and spring blogs (keep an eye out for our suggestions for summer fun in a few months). There’s plenty of other reasons to choose to live in Lee’s Summit as well! Read on for some of our favorite parts about our wonderful city.
The Outdoors
The Kansas City area has 220 parks, 29 lakes, 103 playgrounds, and 134 miles of trails and bikeways, and Lee’s Summit is definitely part of that! They say that no matter where you are in KCMO you’re no more than 30 minutes away from nature, but in Lee’s Summit that distance is even shorter. Thanks to Legacy Park and Powell Gardens, not to mention Stonehaus Farms, you can get outside and enjoy some vitamin D whenever you want.
The Commute
Money Magazine voted Lee’s Summit within the best 50 places to live in the country. That’s at least in part because of the easy work-life balance living here allows. With easy access to I-470, I-49, and US Hwy 50, the average commute of Lee’s Summit residents is about 25 minutes. Even if you work in downtown KCMO you’ll be able to get home in plenty of time to relax and enjoy your evening. Then, if you want to have a night out or a day in the city you don’t have to drive far which means more time with your date and less time worrying about getting home to the babysitter.
The Entertainment
While it’s nice to get to KCMO sometimes, Lee’s Summit has tons to do without leaving town! We have just about any type of cuisine you may be craving, from delicious Kansas City Barbeque to sushi and everywhere in between. Regardless of if you’re getting a meal out, Lee’s Summit offers numerous options for entertainment no matter what you’re wanting to do. For example, check out Summit Lanes or Landmark 2 Skate Center for some fun indoor activities, or when it’s warmer out head over to Summit Waves for some aquatic family fun. What’s even better is if you live at The Residences you’ll be able to get discounts at some of the wonderful Lee’s Summit businesses with our Neighborhood Passport Program!
The Midwest Feel
No matter what state you’re in, there’s no doubt that the “Midwest feel” is special. It’s difficult to fully explain, but whether or not you were born here or moved here later in life the Midwest will always have a special place in your heart. Given that Kansas City is the most central big city in the country (the actual center of America is just a bit west in Lebanon, KS), it goes without saying that Lee’s Summit stays true to those Midwest roots. Even though it’s the sixth largest city in Missouri, we’ve never fully given up that small-town feel.
